French Parliament Considers Stablecoin Tax Change
According to Bitcoinist, French lawmakers recently approved an amendment to the 2027 budget that addresses how crypto gains are treated. The proposed stablecoin tax change passed by a narrow margin of 38 votes to 37.
Under the current proposal, moving from digital assets like Bitcoin into a stablecoin could trigger a taxable event before any euros are actually realized. However, the measure is not yet final law and must complete further legislative steps.
Broader Industry Developments in Stablecoins
While French regulators debate tax policy, the broader stablecoin ecosystem continues to expand rapidly across global markets. Mastercard recently launched its Global Money Platform following its acquisition of BVNK, aiming to integrate stablecoin cards into 130 countries.
Additionally, stablecoin issuer Tether has participated in a funding round for AI infrastructure startup AIsa. This investment pushes the startup's cumulative fundraising above $9 million as it develops payment systems for autonomous software agents.
