XRP Death Cross Forms as Technical Weakness and Liquidation Outflows Weigh on Price
An XRP death cross has materialized on daily charts as heavy forced liquidations and declining volume keep the asset under pressure around $1.30.

XRP Death Cross Signals Technical Weakness
A technical pattern known as an XRP death cross has completed on daily price charts after the 50-day moving average dropped beneath the 200-day moving average near $1.37. According to market analysis by U.Today, the crossover reflects weakening momentum for the digital asset, which currently trades at $1.30 beneath both key technical lines.
The recent decline highlights ongoing downward pressure across multiple timeframes. XRP is down roughly 15% over the past 30 days, 29% since the beginning of the year, and 48% over the trailing 12 months. An attempt to bounce failed near $1.40, where clustered moving averages are acting as overhead resistance, while the 100-day moving average near $1.33 presents an immediate barrier.
Trading activity has dropped notably following a major volume surge in August, signaling reduced spot buyer interest. The Relative Strength Index currently sits near 40, indicating weak market conditions without reaching oversold territory.
Derivatives Outflows and Forced Liquidations
Derivatives market activity remains uneven amid the ongoing broader market selloff. Long-to-short positioning ratios on Binance and OKX stand above 3, indicating that a majority of trader accounts have maintained bullish bets despite the dominant downtrend. Futures flows show net capital outflows over recent hours, increasing risk exposure for leveraged buyers.
That imbalance led to significant forced liquidations across major exchanges. U.Today reported that over a 24-hour period, long positions accounted for the vast majority of $7.25 million in liquidations. Data from CoinGlass highlighted a 2,008% liquidation imbalance during a three-day market decline, where total XRP liquidations hit $7.92 million—comprising $7.55 million in long positions against just $375,910 in shorts.
Immediate support for XRP sits at $1.25, a level that held during two recent price tests. A daily close beneath $1.25 could clear a path toward $1.20 and $1.15, with psychological support near $1.00. To counter the bearish technical setup, buyers must push price action firmly above resistance between $1.37 and $1.40.
Network Growth and On-Chain Activity
Despite chart weakness, on-chain metrics show steady underlying account growth. Data from Santiment indicates the total number of non-empty wallets on the XRP Ledger reached a record high of 8.24 million, supported by a daily addition of 4,772 new wallets. XRP's Market Value to Realized Value ratio stands near 0.92, indicating traders are holding average unrealized losses.
Ecosystem infrastructure is also expanding through institutional partnerships. Swiss-regulated platform Arf has partnered with Ripple to introduce RLUSD-powered settlement liquidity for licensed cross-border payment firms using the XRP Ledger. Concurrently, central banks in Malaysia and Thailand have joined Singapore's BLOOM initiative for cross-border stablecoin settlements.
On the protocol level, the XRP Ledger's fixCleanup3_4_0 technical amendment is undergoing a new voting cycle. After losing its previous majority consensus, the upgrade faces a potential activation date of November 4 at the earliest, subject to sustained validator approval.
