Salesforce Agent Pricing and November Billing Changes
Procurement teams budgeting for upcoming agentic rollouts are facing an uncertain reality as Salesforce prepares to introduce new billing mechanics. According to Forkast, Salesforce has informed customers that it will soon charge for every call an agent makes to its platform. For anyone trying to forecast what those calls will cost, the newest row on the company's rate card reads TBA.
In a document published on September 17, 2026, Salesforce set a November target for a new billing model under its Headless Toolkit. Every successful call a registered agent makes to Salesforce, whether arriving over Model Context Protocol or a direct API, will be metered as one Headless Platform Interaction and tracked via the company's Digital Wallet. Agentic usage is currently not metered, and the specific multipliers have not yet been announced.
Registration Deadlines and Production Rollouts
Salesforce has stated it will provide 30 days of notice when a numerical multiplier is added and metering officially begins. Traditional, non-agentic integration pricing will remain unchanged, with the new model targeting agentic traffic exclusively. Registration serves as the starting point for these tracking mechanisms.
Customers purchasing on or after September 17 must register all agents using Salesforce APIs within a three-month notice window. Existing customers running agents on APIs will register and migrate at renewal, while any use of a Salesforce Model Context Protocol server requires registration within the same timeframe. Each registered agent will receive a distinct platform identity with a narrower permission set.
Broader Enterprise Context and Rate Cards
When metering goes live, costs will land in production environments first. Sandboxes, scratch orgs, and Developer Edition orgs will incur no Headless Platform Interaction metering, allowing development teams to build and test without drawing down Flex Credits. The initial bill will arrive only when those agents move into active production.
A recent price-card audit highlighted that four out of eight tracked enterprise agent platforms publish no public enterprise-agent price at all. While Salesforce carries a detailed rate card featuring Flex Credits at $500 per 100,000 credits, the specific multiplier that converts each Headless Platform Interaction into credits remains unannounced.
