Internal Bitfinex USDT Transfer Highlights October Treasury Activity

A recent Bitfinex USDT transfer of 222.7 million tokens to the Tether Treasury highlights a busy month of internal movements between the two sister companies, according to on-chain tracker Whale Alert. The transaction, valued at nearly $223 million, occurred as part of a series of large-scale capital shifts throughout October.

Both Bitfinex and Tether operate under a shared parent company, iFinex. Because of this common ownership, research frames these substantial capital flows as regular liquidity adjustments rather than redemptions or movements driven by external market pressure.

Broader October Flows and Market Impact

Throughout October, heavy traffic between the affiliates included several notable transactions. On October 28, a cluster of four USDT transfers between Bitfinex and Tether totaled $765.3 million within a three-hour window. This batch included moves of 281.8 million USDT, 124.3 million USDT, and offsetting moves of 180 million USDT that effectively canceled each other out. Earlier in the month, additional transfers included a 140 million USDT move and a 100.98 million USDT movement.

Despite hundreds of millions of dollars changing hands between affiliates, the wider market remained calm. Research notes that USDT maintained its dollar peg throughout the October activity, and the internal treasury movements did not disrupt trading liquidity or broader market sentiment.
