Interactive Brokers adds Ethereum staking to client portal

On Tuesday, Interactive Brokers announced that eligible US clients can stake Ethereum directly from the IBKR Client Portal, marking the brokerage’s latest step in broadening its cryptocurrency services.

The staking function is powered by ZeroHash, a digital‑asset infrastructure provider, and is accessed through a new Staking Dashboard where users can submit stake or unstake requests and monitor activity.

How the service works and reward structure

Rewards are paid in additional ETH rather than cash, allowing the newly earned tokens to compound automatically as they remain staked.

Eligible clients retain at least 70% of the staking rewards, with the remainder allocated to ZeroHash and other service providers.

There is no minimum amount required, meaning even small ETH balances can participate on the same terms as larger holdings.

ZeroHash’s role and client ownership

ZeroHash handles the validator operations and the underlying staking infrastructure, while Interactive Brokers manages the client‑facing interface and support.

Clients continue to own the staked ETH through a separate ZeroHash account; Interactive Brokers does not act as a validator or custodian.

Context within Interactive Brokers’ expanding crypto offering

The staking launch follows a series of enhancements to the broker’s crypto suite, including the addition of nine new tokens via ZeroHash and three via Paxos in July, bringing its tradable digital assets to 20.

Earlier this year the firm introduced USDC funding and now supports stablecoins such as USDC, Ripple’s RLUSD and PayPal’s PYUSD, alongside external wallet transfers.

Since launching direct crypto trading in September 2021 with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash, Interactive Brokers has positioned itself to let clients manage stocks, options, futures and crypto from a single platform.

Availability and regulatory notes

The Ethereum staking service is currently available to eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients residing in the United States; product availability may vary by affiliate and country of residence.

Interactive Brokers’ CEO Milan Galik likened the offering to the firm’s Stock Yield Enhancement Program, emphasizing the goal of helping clients earn more from assets they already hold.
