Houthi Missile Attacks Target Aden Airport as Tensions Escalating in Yemen

Regional Conflict Deepens Following Houthi Missile Attacks
Yemeni Houthi forces have targeted the main airport in Aden, the interim capital of Yemen, marking a sharp increase in regional friction. Following the strike, a Saudi-led coalition reported that it successfully intercepted several incoming drones and missiles aimed at its territory, according to CryptoBriefing. Among the intercepted threats were cruise missiles flying over the Red Sea and a ballistic missile directed toward the Saudi city of Yanbu.
While no casualties were immediately reported at the Aden airport, the Houthi movement has not explicitly claimed responsibility for that specific strike. The renewed military activity underscores the ongoing instability between Iran-aligned Houthi forces and the Saudi-backed Yemeni government. Industry observers are tracking potential airspace restrictions from the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation, which could signal further escalation.
Civilian Casualties and Ground Hostilities Surge in Taiz
The assault on Aden follows intense ground hostilities in other key areas of Yemen. In the Sabir al-Mawadim district southeast of Taiz, one woman was killed and five civilians were wounded due to Houthi sniper fire and artillery shelling, according to state news agency Saba and the Taiz Human Rights Center.
Taiz remains under an ongoing siege that severely limits essential supplies and endangers residents. Military analysts note that Houthi advancements near strategic locations, including Lahj and the Al-Anad Air Base, could further alter regional security and impact nearby strategic positions like Aden.
