Swedbank Strategy Stake Expands Through Continuous Accumulation

Swedbank AB, the third-largest bank in Sweden, has expanded its position in Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ: MSTR) by 27%, raising its total holdings to 115,464 shares. According to Cryptobriefing.com, this recent addition builds upon a sustained multi-quarter accumulation trend by the banking institution, which operates with a $264 billion asset base.

Regulatory filings reveal that Swedbank held approximately 60,195 shares of Strategy Inc. in 2025, which carried a valuation of around $17.35 million at the time. By late 2025, the bank's position had grown to roughly 79,000 shares, subsequently crossing 82,000 shares by May 2026. A second-quarter 13F filing indicated an additional purchase of 8,278 shares, lifting the aggregate count to 90,590 shares valued at approximately $8.81 million as of July 2026, before reaching the current total of 115,464 shares.

Institutional Proxies and Regional Trends

Led by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor, Strategy Inc. is widely recognized for retaining a massive corporate Bitcoin reserve reported between 600,000 and 800,000 BTC. Because of these large holdings, the firm's equity functions as a leveraged proxy for Bitcoin, permitting traditional institutional investors to gain exposure to the digital asset's price movements through standard equity channels without managing private keys, custody infrastructure, or complex regulatory frameworks.

Swedbank's ongoing share accumulation via its asset management division reflects growing client demand for equity-based crypto exposure rather than short-term speculative positioning. This movement aligns with broader institutional trends across the Nordic region, where SEB Asset Management has similarly expanded its exposure by acquiring 53,837 shares of Strategy Inc., valued at roughly $5 million in 2026.
