Strategy CFO Abruptly Resigns Amid Insider Share Sales and MSTR Drop
Strategy CFO Andrew Kang has abruptly resigned following millions in insider share sales, leaving CEO Phong Le to step in as principal financial officer.

Why Strategy CFO Resigns Raises Questions for MSTR
The recent announcement that Strategy CFO Resigns has sparked intense discussions across the cryptocurrency community, with commentators drawing parallels to past corporate crises. According to Protos, Andrew Kang submitted his resignation on the day of the company's quarterly earnings announcement.
The sudden departure coincides with a notable market reaction. MSTR, the Nasdaq-listed common stock of Michael Saylor's bitcoin-holding firm, fell over 8% following the combined announcements of the earnings report and the executive shakeup.
Insider Stock Sales Precede the Departure
Before stepping down, Kang and other corporate insiders offloaded substantial amounts of MSTR stock over the course of the year. Protos reported that company insiders sold a total of 227,580 shares during this period.
CEO Phong Le offloaded the largest volume, selling 104,593 shares valued at approximately $12.5 million. Director Jarrod Patten sold 77,900 shares for about $11.4 million, while departing CFO Kang sold 43,897 shares for roughly $5.5 million prior to his exit.
Company Stance and Leadership Transition Plans
In an SEC filing, Strategy clarified that Kang's decision is entirely personal. The company stated that his resignation is not the result of any disagreement between Kang and the firm on any matter.
Kang's resignation is effective November 5, 2026. Following his departure, CEO Phong Le is scheduled to take over as the company's principal financial officer on November 6, with Reza Virasteh stepping in as co-CFO in January 2027.
