Weekend Stock Tokens Performance

Stock tokens continued trading throughout weekends, but their prices did not reliably guide the next equity market open according to a study of 121 equities. Blockchain data provider Bitquery released an analysis on November 3 indicating that Sunday token movements measured before equity index futures reopened correctly identified 54 percent of qualifying openings. Simply predicting that every stock would open higher achieved a success rate of 55 percent across the observed sessions.

Bitquery monitored 17 weekends starting July 10 through October 30, with the final stock opening recorded on November 2. The evaluation covered 791 stock opening observations, filtering down to 533 openings that moved at least 0.5 percent from the preceding Friday close. Token directions matched the market movement on 286 of those observations, while always predicting a rise yielded 291 correct calls.

Study Methodology and Accuracy

Because more market openings rose than fell, a basic coin toss benchmark outperformed the predictive value of the tokens. Balanced accuracy calculations, which average success rates across both upward and downward movements, placed the tokens at 53 percent with a reported 95 percent interval ranging from 44 percent to 62 percent. Across all 791 observations including smaller price shifts, the median error reached 1.2 percent using token movements, compared with 0.9 percent when assuming stocks opened flat at Friday closing prices.

The primary test evaluated token prices just before 6 p.m. Sunday Eastern Time, matching the futures reopening cutoff utilized by Bitquery. A separate examination using prices recorded just before 8 p.m. yielded a 59 percent balanced accuracy score across 220 openings, though that test raised the weekend volume threshold to one million dollars and altered the movement filter.

Trading Access and Market Context

Listings in the study required a minimum of 10,000 dollars in weekend trading volume alongside a recorded trade during the hour preceding each cutoff. The research excluded openings affected by stock splits, ex-dividend dates, and crypto sensitive equities such as Strategy and Coinbase. Issuers were then combined using volume weights to assess overall market behavior.

Nasdaq issued an update on October 30 outlining December 6 as the expected transition date toward 23 hour, five day trading schedules, pending infrastructure readiness and regulatory approval. The proposed implementation framework requires an additional session from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Eastern Time and mandates new member participation procedures.

Execution Spreads and Arbitrage Limits

Separate research published by data provider Coin Metrics on November 3 examined tokenized Nvidia shares to evaluate execution feasibility across different issuers and exchanges. The study demonstrated that visible price gaps between venues often shrink significantly once orders reach the market, leaving minimal room for arbitrage profit. One modeled comparison between Hyperliquid and Binance left a margin of one basis point after accounting for entry and exit slippage.

A second comparison involving Hyperliquid and Kraken revealed an 18 basis point gross gap that faced 33 basis points of entry and exit slippage. This resulted in a negative 15 basis point margin before accounting for trading fees. Bitquery also normalized its Nvidia tokens per underlying share and adjusted dividend treatments following a data correction on November 1.
