JPMorgan Releases First Decade-Long Bitcoin Price Scenarios
JPMorgan Asset Management has published its 2027 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions report, featuring a baseline projection that Bitcoin price scenarios could deliver annual returns of 10% over the next decade. According to the Wall Street banking group, this projected figure outpaces expected returns for traditional assets such as U.S. large-cap stocks at 7.5% and gold at 5.5%.
Within the same research, the bank also outlined a bear-case scenario of negative 9.7% alongside a bull-case projection of 17% annualized returns. This release marks the first time the financial institution has incorporated a formal return range for Bitcoin within its long-term market forecasts.
Evaluating Volatility and Portfolio Inclusion
Despite outlining positive long-term growth figures, JPMorgan maintained a cautious stance regarding digital assets. According to portfolio manager Dr. Sheena Shah and head of digital asset strategy Dennis Cristallo, ongoing volatility and unstable correlations remain significant obstacles to widespread portfolio inclusion.
The strategy team views the asset primarily as a speculative instrument and a hedge against monetary easing rather than a traditional portfolio diversifier. They noted that Bitcoin functions similarly to a high-beta risk asset tracking global money supply growth, lacking cash flows as a fundamental valuation metric.
