Anthropic Financing Structure for Texas Infrastructure
Bitcoin mining firm Riot Platforms has agreed to financing terms under a multi-billion dollar Riot Anthropic AI deal that allows artificial intelligence lab Anthropic to fund portion of facility construction. According to reporting from CoinDesk, Riot could pay up to 12 percent interest on the funds provided by Anthropic, with repayments processed through reductions in ongoing rent.
The financial structure provides capital for Riot as it reallocates its power capacity away from digital asset mining toward high-performance computing infrastructure. The arrangement enables the facility developer to secure immediate funding for specialized site preparation while offering the tenant an interest yield applied against future lease obligations.

The operating agreement centers on a 15 year powered land lease for 910 megawatts of capacity located at Riot's Corsicana campus in Texas. As reported by U.Today, the initial contract carries a valuation of 28 billion dollars, with initial annual rental payments expected to average approximately 1.8 billion dollars.
Riot Chief Executive Officer Jason Les stated that the contract is structured as a triple net lease, which requires Anthropic to purchase, install, and maintain its own computing equipment. This arrangement reduces Riot's facility construction costs by roughly half compared to standard Tier 3 data center builds, allowing the company to fund development without issuing additional equity or diluting shareholder positions.
With this contract and related infrastructure developments, Riot has raised its total projected long-term data center revenue to 38 billion dollars. The company now oversees a total controlled power capacity of 1,151 megawatts across its operating portfolio.
Treasury Liquidation and Capital Deployment
To fund the ongoing conversion of its infrastructure, Riot reduced its corporate Bitcoin holdings by 79 percent during the third quarter of 2026. Financial disclosures reveal that the company decreased its cryptocurrency reserve balance from 11,380 Bitcoin down to 2,418 Bitcoin.
Across the first nine months of the year, Riot sold a cumulative 20,264 Bitcoin on open markets, generating approximately 1.5 billion dollars in proceeds. Management directed these capital receipts toward repurposing available electrical capacity for high-density computing loads.
Riot equity initially rose to 16.20 dollars following the announcement before settling in a trading range between 15.45 dollars and 15.50 dollars on elevated share volume. The remaining 2,418 Bitcoin held on the balance sheet may also be liquidated during the fourth quarter to meet active construction expenses in Texas.
Quarterly Performance and Balance Sheet Adjustments
The strategic realignment coincides with compressed profit margins across the cryptocurrency mining sector. Riot reported a 28 percent year over year decline in quarterly mining revenue to 116 million dollars, even as operational facilities produced 1,637 Bitcoin during the period.
Overall quarterly revenue reached 181.4 million dollars, representing a 1 percent increase compared to the same period in the prior year and topping consensus market expectations. Net income for the quarter stood at 4.03 million dollars.
As part of a broader balance sheet restructuring, Riot fully paid off a 200 million dollar credit facility with Coinbase, recovering 5,821 Bitcoin that had been pledged as loan collateral. The company finished the quarter with 950.2 million dollars in total liquid reserves, consisting of cash balances and remaining digital assets.
