Google Tests Ads in AI Mode for International Users Amid Gemini Growth
Google begins rolling out sponsored results within its conversational search AI Mode across international markets as search queries surge.

Expanding Sponsored Results in AI Mode
Google is officially bringing advertisements to AI Mode, its conversational search feature, in international markets. According to reports from Cryptobriefing, the Gemini-powered conversational search is getting sponsored results beyond its home turf, although advertisers currently receive very few controls over placement.
AI Mode runs entirely on Google’s proprietary Gemini models, allowing users to input longer and more conversational queries to receive synthesized answers rather than a traditional list of blue links. Monetizing the feature internationally represents a significant step given the product's massive global footprint.
Global Reach and Advertising Mechanics
Google previously expanded AI Mode to more than 40 new countries and territories on October 7, 2025. This expansion pushed the total reach of the product to over 200 markets and more than 35 languages, placing a strong emphasis on European adoption. Among the newly supported regions is Thailand, where the Thai language is fully integrated.
For brands and marketers, the advertising mechanics remain hands-off. Ads appearing within AI Mode are delivered through existing campaign types, including Performance Max, Shopping, and broad-match or AI Max Search campaigns. Meanwhile, newer ad formats developed specifically with Gemini technology are still undergoing testing, and Google currently offers no dedicated standalone controls.
Broader Ecosystem and Infrastructure Growth
In addition to expanding conversational search monetization, Alphabet and Google continue to scale their broader artificial intelligence infrastructure. Recent updates reveal that Google Cloud has expanded partnerships within the AI sector, including a deepened arrangement with Anthropic providing access to roughly 3.5 gigawatts of next-generation TPU capacity starting in 2027, with Broadcom handling silicon design.
Furthermore, Alphabet reported robust financial and operational metrics, with Sundar Pichai noting that Google Search queries are growing at their fastest pace in five years driven largely by AI enhancements. Alphabet recently posted $127.6 billion in quarterly revenue, while Google Cloud more than doubled, illustrating the massive enterprise scale supporting these new product rollouts.
