XRP Burn Rate Surges 147% as Uptober Concludes With Market Pressures
As the month of October draws to a close, the XRP burn rate has spiked significantly even as broader market pressures weigh on digital assets.

Surging XRP Burn Rate Marks the End of October
The XRP burn rate experienced a notable upward trajectory toward the conclusion of October, registering a 147% surge according to data from XRPScan. Network activity on October 30 showed that 1,644 XRP was burned as transaction fees.
This burning process highlights the deflationary mechanism built into the XRP Ledger, which permanently removes fractional amounts of XRP from circulation during network transactions. Unlike scheduled token distribution models on other blockchains, the XRP Ledger processes these burns automatically through transaction fees.
Market Downturn and External Pressures
Despite the increase in network burn activity, major digital assets including XRP faced downward price pressure as the month concluded. Frequently dubbed Uptober due to historical outperformance, October fell short of expectations as various headwinds affected crypto markets.
Market sentiment was heavily impacted by a recent security incident involving Binance, where hackers stole $6.3 billion in client assets. Binance subsequently reported covering about 90% of the stolen value and announced plans to restore withdrawals.
