South Korea Implements Crypto Exchange Blocks
South Korea has ordered domestic access blocks on 27 unregistered crypto exchange websites, according to disclosures by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) on October 13, 2026. The targeted platforms include prominent international operators such as KuCoin, MEXC, Phemex, BingX, and BitMart.
The country's communications review body approved the restrictive measures following formal reviews conducted on October 6 and October 7. Websites hosted abroad face direct access blocks under the new regulatory enforcement.
Asset Withdrawal Concerns
Authorities acknowledged that the enforcement actions aimed at unregistered exchanges could create operational hurdles for users. Specifically, officials noted that customers might experience difficulty withdrawing their assets from the restricted platforms.
The regulatory crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by South Korean financial authorities to enforce compliance across the domestic digital asset market and restrict access to unauthorized trading venues.
