NEAR Protocol Price Surges Over Weekend
NEAR Protocol has experienced a significant upward movement, with its native token climbing 16% over the weekend according to The Motley Fool. Trading activity expanded rapidly alongside the price action.
The sharpest single burst of activity occurred on October 10, 2026. NEAR gained as much as 11% during that session, touching $6.00 on Binance before cooling down to around $5.64. Daily trading volume hit a record of approximately $3.54 billion, marking a 98% increase.
Market Capitalization and Four-Week Gains
Over the four weeks leading into mid-October, NEAR rose by at least 83%, with some measurements placing the gain between 138% and 172%. This extended rally pushed the network's market capitalization to around $7.2 billion when the token traded near $5.50.
The recent momentum has successfully propelled NEAR back inside the top 20 digital assets by market capitalization. The broader activity coincides with developments across the protocol's cross-chain features and recent financial product launches.
Ecosystem Developments and Proposed Supply Cut
Bitwise launched the first US spot NEAR ETF, trading under the ticker NRR, on September 29, 2026. The fund drew nearly $58 million in inflows during its initial week of trading.
Meanwhile, a governance proposal is currently underway to lower NEAR's maximum annual token issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over the next 24 months. Although not yet finalized, the potential supply adjustment adds to the fundamental shifts being monitored by market participants.
