Expanding the Recommended Validator List

The XRP Ledger Foundation announced on October 28, 2026, that it has added Flare Networks to its official recommended validator list. This inclusion increases Flare's involvement in the consensus and governance of the XRP Ledger ecosystem.

According to u.today, the Foundation highlighted Flare's dedication to the ecosystem and its alignment with the network's core values. Flare expressed gratitude to the Foundation and to those who reviewed its application for the recommended validator list.

The Role of Validators in Network Security

Validators play a critical role in maintaining the security and stability of the XRP Ledger. Unlike Bitcoin, the ledger does not rely on a proof-of-work mining system, using its own consensus mechanism instead.

Independent validators interact to agree on transaction order and validity, preventing double-spending. While server administrators can configure custom trust lists, many rely on the recommended validator list published by the XRP Ledger Foundation and Ripple.

Ecosystem Participants and Broader Context

The XRP Ledger's recommended list features various cryptocurrency firms, independent infrastructure providers, and academic institutions. Notable participants include Ripple, XRPL Labs, Bithomp, GateHub, Peersyst Technology, and XRPL Commons, alongside universities such as the University of Kansas, Australian National University, and the University of Nicosia.

In a separate development highlighted by Ripple leadership at the Swell 2026 conference, the broader ecosystem continues to see institutional adoption. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse addressed market rumors, emphasizing ongoing support for the native asset alongside infrastructure developments like the integration of the RLUSD stablecoin.
